I am so sad to say the search for Cinnabon is a failure during my trip to KL. Apparently the outlet closed 4 years ago. Zzz.
Left with no other venues, I figured I might as well try making more cinnamon rolls. 😛 Cinnamon rolls are really very easy to make and most people I know enjoy them.
This time, I tried Alton Brown’s Overnight Cinnamon Rolls. Try watching his video. It is really informative and amusing.
A total of 1 egg and 4 yolks go into the dough. So you can expect the dough will not be as soft and fluffy, but will be more chewy and substantial. Personally I felt 1 cup of sugar for the filling was too much and 1 tbsp of cinnamon was too little. I upped the cinnamon to 1.5 tbsp and feel it can still go up a bit more.
This roll is great! It is not as fluffy as others I’ve attempted but still soft enough even when cold. I’m guessing that is due to the addition of buttermilk. If you don’t fancy cinnamon, Mr. Brown also gives other options in his video.
